Weekend only - PT Seasonal - Bartender/Front of House

Kiawah Island, SC

The Front of House (FOH) will work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager to effectively address the needs of the guests. This role will ensure that guests enjoy a flawless drinking and dining experience while performing their job responsibilities to Timbers Kiawah standards. Hourly plus gratuities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Essential functions as defined are ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and not a comprehensive listing of all functions and duties performed by incumbents within this classification. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:  

  • Ability to work Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. 
  • Perform the duties of mixing and pouring beverages, taking orders, delivering orders, bus tables and provide service to the pool and/or beach.  
  • Maintain the “Beach club” which includes cleaning, organizing and maintaining games/toys, stocking towels and circulating towel bins, cleaning pool loungers and tables, maintaining dry storage, maintaining bar stock and supplies and dining deck.   
  • Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations such as DHEC regulations. 
  • Role model exemplary customer service, and ensure the team provides fast, friendly, and accurate service.  
  • Promptly and properly handle customer issues. Report any issues that need additional attention immediately to a manager. 
  • Performs/assists in daily opening and closing responsibilities including but not limited to trash removal, organization and sanitation of storage and bar area, and sanitation of equipment and surfaces, opening and closing of pool umbrellas and straightening of chairs and tables. 
  • Performs annual deep cleans as well as daily/weekly assigned tasks. 
  • Ensure proper cash handling and deposit procedures are followed when applicable.  
  • Ensure there is no improper use of the “Beach club” area by Owners or GuestsReport any improper use immediately to a manager. 
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with Owners and Guests to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business. 
  • Assists in ensuring that staff maintains a professional attitude and proper appearance and uniform standards. 
  • Performs annual deep cleans as well as daily/weekly assigned tasks. 
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the Owners and Guests and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment. 
  • Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with Owners and coworkers  
  • Possess the ethics and positive attitude that support the Timbers values and culture. 
  • Strong time management skills and ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize. 
  • Available 30-40hrs per week; able to work flexible hours as necessary to manage and operate the beach club effectively, including weekends and closing shifts. 

Education and Experience: 

High School Diploma/GED supplemented with a love for hospitality and at least 2 years’ experience in the front of the house as a server or bartender. Training is provided. 

Required Knowledge and Skills  

Knowledge of:   

  • Food and beverage products, recipes, menus, and promotions.  
  • Policies and procedures of the department. 
  • Safe work practices and sanitation related to food preparation and service
  • Customer service principles and practices
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.  

Skill in:   

  • Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with owners and co-workers 
  • Managing a fast-paced, high volume, clean, owner-focused Beach Club.  
  • Time management and ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize.  
  • Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives and activities.
